Timmy’s Done. Calls Its Quits.

Just read the latest news on one of Hawaii’s greatest quarterbacks, Timmy Chang, is calling it quits per Honolulu Star Bulletin’s, Dave Reardon. It is a sad day for all the fans who had hoped that he would have made it as a starting QB for a NFL Team. He had a great career and put Hawaii on the map as a football program to contend with every season. Mahalo Timmy! for all the memories!

Back to UH for Timmy Chang

Jason Kaneshiro and I ran into Timmy Chang today at the PIAA Combine at Saint Louis. The NCAA record-setting quarterback says he has retired from pro football (he played for Winnipeg of the CFL last year), and will return to UH this fall to complete work on his bachelor’s degree.

“I’m hangin ‘em up,” Chang said.

Chang will also work as a student assistant in the athletic department’s compliance office.

Al Afalava Also Agrees to Terms on 4-Year Deal

In other great news from Da Bears. The Chicago Tribune also reports, former Kahuku alum and Oregon State University alum, Al Afalava has agreed to terms with the Chicago Bears. He’ll have a tough time though, vying for the free safety position, but it’ll be a wait and see game with Lovie Smith making the ultimate decision. I’m hoping we get to see both Pisa and Al on the field together this season. That would be AWESOME!

The Chicago Bears Rule! They Now Have FIVE players with Hawai’i Ties!

Pisa Tinoisamoa Signs A One-Year Deal With Da Bears.

According to Chicago Tribune’s Vaughn McClure Pisa Tinoisamoa has signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears:

The Bears and free-agent linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa have agreed to terms on a one-year contract. Tinoisamoa visited Halas Hall on May 20 and chose the Bears over the Bills. He also visited Buffalo and New England. The former Ram reunites with Lovie Smith, his defensive coordinator in St. Louis during the 2003 season. Tinoisamoa is likely to start at strong-side linebacker, joining stars Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs.

“He’s been a real productive player,’’ Angelo said Wednesday when asked about Tinoisamoa. “We don’t, at this point, need any position. But any time we have a chance to add a good football player, we’re going to look at all positions. “We don’t necessarily need more production as much as we’re just adding another good football player. It’s not an indictment on our linebackers. We like our (strong-side) linebackers. If this works, great. If it doesn’t work, we’re still fine.’’

Good Luck Pisa! We’re all rooting for you! Go Bears!

Tombo Ahi at the UH Football Fan Blog also has more news on Pisa. Check it out!

Waiting on Pisa Tinoisamoa

Well it looks like its a toss up between the Bears and the Bills on who wants Pisa more. UH Football Fan Blog’s Tombo Ahi has the most recent news from Chicago Sun Times’ Brad Briggs and other news sources. I saw a couple articles on Pisa and it looks like his trip out east to the Patriots was a bust because he may have been asking more than they bargained for. The Philadelphia Eagles was a rumor and may have petered out since there has been nada a sound from Philly.

Memorial Day Rememberances

Please spend a little time today to remember those who served during this Memorial Day Holiday.

Tombo Ahi Has Great News in his Warriors In the Pro Posts!

I try to keep up with former Warriors and Polynesian players but Tombo Ahi always has the jump on me. I have no problem because he’s the best at what he does when covering the Hawaii Warriors. Any news about the Warriors is great news, I always say! I remember the times when you could count on your fingers how many former Warriors or Polynesians were playing professional football. So this is great! The more coverage we can give our beloved players the better.

Thus, please check out Tombo Ahi’s UH Football Fan Blog for recent news on Isaac Sopoaga, Jeff Ulbrich and Colt Brennan. But make sure you don’t forget to come back and check out the latest on other news! Thanks!

Watching NHL & NBA Playoffs

Sorry, watching the NHL and NBA Playoffs today. Wow! Detroit Wings wins against Chicago Blackhawks in great hockey action! Lakers win another one and move on to play the Nuggets in the Western Finals. Waiting for the Celtics/Orlando game now to see who plays the Cavaliers. That’s gonna be a great game too!

AF2, Gerard Lewis, Myron Newberry & Hercules Satele

Got the latest on where some Hawaii players are playing in Arena Football 2. I constantly search for former Warriors and I recently got a tweet from @CoachJuneJones regarding his two players, Gerard Lewis and Myron Newberry. They both play for the Amarillo (TX) Dusters. Checked out the rest of the teams and found Hercules Satele with the Spokane (WA) Shock. Check out the link on the blog under “Arena Football2″. Mahalo! (Thanks!)

AIFA and Shawn Withy-Allen

Added more links including info on Shawn Withy-Allen with the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) Fayetteville Guards in North Carolina. He also has a web site but I think it hasn’t been updated lately. Check it out Shawn Withy-Allen
