HFF Gametime Review: New England Patriots @ Washington Redskins

August 28, 2009

This will hopefully be a redemption game for Hawai’i Warrior, Colt Brennan, who had an awful outing in the Redskins last game. He’ll meetup with his old Warrior teammate, Jake Ingram, who has official duties as the longsnapper for the Patriots. Fellow Polynesian, Mike Sellers, is slated to play but still nursing a previous knee injury. Mike will be a gametime decision.

Unfortunately, we lost DT Vaka Manupuna (Colorado) who had been put on waiver by the Redskins in early August.

Let’s hope the remaining players get some playing time. Especially, Colt Brennan, who is contending for the 2nd or 3rd backup quarterback position. IMUA to all the players!!!

HFF Gametime Review: Miami Dolphins @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

August 26, 2009

Well here we go with another rivalry between two Florida cities. Must be nice! Former Hawaii Warrior, Davone Bess, may get a hit or two from big Samoan/Texas Longhorn, Roy Miller. Also our other Polynesian connection in Miami, Paul Soliai, will continue to contend for a backup nose tackle position behind Jason Ferguson. Bess looked great in his last performance as Chad Pennington continues to gain his confidence.

HFF Gametime Review: Carolina Panthers @ NY Giants

August 17, 2009

The premier Monday Night Football game will showcase hometown boy (Kahuku, HI) and Utah alumnus, Ma’ake Kemoeatu. The Carolina Panthers have put their faith in the “Big Man” in hopes he will shut down opposing offenses in his defensive tackle position.  He’s the lone Polynesian in the game tonight so you can’t miss him!

HFF Gametime Review: Jacksonville Jaguars @ Miami Dolphins

August 17, 2009

Starting off our first game of Monday Night Football will be notable Hawaii Warriors, Vince Manuwai and Davone Bess. Also our other Polynesian connection in Miami is Utah alumnus, Paul Soliai, who will be contending for a backup nose tackle position behind Jason Ferguson. Manuwai is pretty much established at this point and is the only remaining Polynesian left in Jacksonville. Bess had a stellar performance last year, but still needs to fight for a starting position in the pre-season.

It’s Monday Night!

HFF Gametime Review: Seattle Seahawks @ San Diego Chargers

August 15, 2009

Bringing up the tail end of the night will be another game that features a former islander (Max Unger), a former Hawai’i Warrior (Kynan Forney), an awesome former USC standout (Lofa Tatupu) and the league’s best tight end (Brandon Manumaleuna). All players have something to prove in this game also as three are veterans except rookie, Max Unger (who hails from Kailua-Kona, HI). Good luck guys and wishing you the HFF best!!

HFF Gametime Review: Chicago Bears v. Buffalo Bills

August 15, 2009

This game will be the one to watch, especially, those Hawaii Alumni of different schools and for Polynesians. The Chicago Bears have quite a lineup of Polynesian players and it’ll be interesting to see how they do during this preseason game. If they all play well, we might just have a good contingent of players representing the islands and Polynesians in Chicago. We have a bunch of veterans and rookies who need to make an impression this weekend for both Buffalo and Chicago. Most of all, a lot of eyes are on Pisa Tinoisamoa and Al Afalava, to see if they will be the defensive answer for Chicago. Checkout the game!

August 9, 2009

The Buffalo Bills will also feature two Polynesians in the Hall of Fame game today. Not too much fans are aware that Kawika Mitchell is a premier Hawaiian linebacker from University of South Florida and Marvin Phillips is an all-around Tongan center from the University of California, Berkeley.
