Auwe! Liz Chun Resigns

Liz Chun

Liz Chun

**Update 1/24/10: Dave Reardon writes further on Liz Chun’s resignation.

Breaking news from fellow blogger, Dave Reardon:

Liz Chun resigned today as Hawaii News Now Sports Director. The is disheartening news for a lot of Hawaii sports fans but she explains her reason for leaving in an interview with Star-Bulletin staff. Her work ethic speaks for itself but here’s an interview she did for the Honolulu Advertiser a few years back in 2006.

I’ve enjoyed her vast sports knowledge over the years and she will be greatly missed in Hawai’i sports media.

Hawai’i Football Fanatics wishes her the very best for her future plans and big mahalo for all she’s done for Hawai’i’s sports! Especially covering Warrior Football!

Mele Kalikimaka!, Philadelphia Eagles & Jordan Norwood

During the Christmas break, I'll be away with family and friends. Thus, I wanted to wish all Hawai'i Football Fanatics readers, on both the blog and facebook fan page, a Mele Kalikimaka! I'll attempt to post whenever possible and I'll be on my weekly schedule thereafter.

Also my favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles, play the Denver Broncos this weekend. Besides, Polynesian Fenuki Tupou (injured reserved), I'm not sure if a lot of people know another island connection with Jordan Norwood (Hawai'i-born and 2008 Penn State graduate) who is a wide receiver for the Eagles (practice squad). He is the son of former Radford High alumnus and UH cornerback/safety, Brian Norwood, who is currently the defensive coordinator for Baylor University.

Go Eagles!!!

HFF Monday Night Football: Packers @ Vikings

Tonight on Monday Night Football (ESPN).

This is a no-brainer if you are a Brett Favre or Naufahu Tahi fan, it’s root for the Vikings. Auwe! Packers have no islanders on their roster. Naufahu looks questionable (back) before the game and running backs (Peterson & Taylor) may be seeing a majority of playing time. Let’s hope to see Naufahu working the backfield and Brett throwing like the last game for a Vikings victory.

    Labor Day Weekend Time Off

E kala mai to all Hawaii Football Fanatics Blog Fans. I took some time off this weekend to spend time with family and friends since returning to isles. Lots of college football action this weekend. Upsets galore! Yikes! and BYU beating Oklahoma was awesome! The only disappointment I had was with UH’s somewhat lackluster performance against Central Arkansas and Oregon’s loss to Boise State. On one side it was good for the WAC but bad since lots of Polynesians and islanders at Oregon.

I’ll be back on the “post wagon” this week and I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend.

    Mahalo!
